THE+STRUGGLE+IS+REAL....+Just+a+reminder+that+the+struggle_c6d3fe_4176537You don’t even know the struggle

I really hope everyone else is just as excited for this Jimi Hendrix biopic as I am. I suppose the extent of Andre 3K’s acting career has really only included music videos and a corny Gillette commercial of every woman’s dream, so the expectations aren’t as high. Or maybe it’s just the opposite since he is playing one of Hip-Hop’s most referenced rock star, besides maybe Kurt Cobain. Of course fans have no right in dictating what a celebrity does with his time, whether it’s the big screen or creating music, but we can always hope that regardless of how the film turns out that Mr. Benjamin hasn’t hung up the mic for good.

This week is a bit more music video heavy but that’s never a bad thing. Also from now on, we’ll be putting an asterisk (*) next to the songs we’ve received from submissions. So you know it’s real. You know the drill: Sound off on our Twitter (@TheSource). If you can do better yourself, submit a track or video to SYLR@thesource.com.

*Ayatollah (feat. Inspectah Deck & Silent Knight) – “The Love”

It’s rare that I find a song about a loved one that is as honest and heartfelt and this one. Off of Ayatollah’s upcoming Be Real Black For Me (4/15).

*The Demon$ – “Sheesh” (Prod. Johnny Juliano)

This North Philly duo has a tape called Hell On Earth dropping soon. The hook on this single, besides reminding me of what a few of our associates constantly yell in states of amazement, could be the next hit at your next Halloween party. Bookmark this one.

*Rebel Legato (feat. Bruce Bayen) – “Stress Free” (Prod. Irineo)

The Stank Face crew keeps this track off of Rebel’s single for his SHADES totally in house on this one. How do you stay stress free among the madness around us? Or are we made among a logical world? What has True Detective done to me…

*El Gant (feat. GGDT) – “Five One Eight” (Prod. JOAT)

Don’t take El Gant too seriously lest you become seriously offended. Besides, you’ll miss all the comedy in El Gant’s bars. Just please leave my mom alone at that bar, Mr. Gant. Off of his Beast Academy (6/10).

*ConFlik – “Them Dollars” (Prod. Bravestarr)

LoudER emcee is here to teach you a few things about priorities in the Rap game. Too often a rapper doesn’t realize the hours of work that come before even a minimum wage equivalent check. This is the first single off his upcoming, currently unnamed project.

*Jay Diem (feat. Madi King) – “Til The Angels Come” (Prod. Clams Casino)

This 17 year old from Houston spins a vivid tale of relationship abuse based on some true events. You’re going to want to listen to this one to the end. Off of his upcoming IOMFT project.
